EQ Deleted the Wrong TL

Recommended Posts

I had a CC with my credit union that is my oldest TL on my report...I had had my purse stolen some 12 years ago and reported the card stolen. They reissued me a new card but for some reason, this 1997 TL showed back up on my CR (and it had a couple of lates). When the credit union issued the "new" card 10 years ago, they put it in my CR as a new TL, so in actuality, I had both on my report for a while...but then the old closed account dropped off.

When it reappeared, I disputed it, and EQ deleted them BOTH. I haven't received any notice from Scorewatch, but found it yesterday when I did my daily pull from TC.

Is there any way I can get EQ to reinsert the right TL that they erroneously deleted? Yes, I do have a copy of my report to provide to them.

ARG...credit repair isn't just correcting CO's and late pays...it's getting the good stuff back!

If the TL was paid & closed, then it can be reported for UP TO 10yrs; it can be just 7yrs old and can still fall off. You may be able to contact the credit union to see if they'll re-report it for you; but generally, if it's paid, closed, & more than 5yrs old, then it'll fall off and you would just have to suck it up. Some CRAs will remove them after 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10yrs. There's nothing in the law that says it HAS to report the TL for the entire 10yrs (or at all).

EarthAngel, that's just the point. The old closed account came off, but also the open, current card with the 10-12 year credit history came off as well. Because the first card had been stolen, they replaced it with card #2. Since it was a small credit union, the first twelve numbers on both cards were identical...only the last 4 numbers were different.

UGH!

Same thing happened with me on TU and EQ. Both CRA fixed the error. EQ did it easily, but TU took lots of phone calls and a BBB complaint.
