buckeyechick1219
I've disputed a credit card account with Asset for the past several years as "Not Mine." Everytime I do, they send me their standard ID Theft form (which really, if somebody opened an account in my name and they haven't provided me any information on it, how do I know when it was opened, where I was living, and all of the other ridiculous information they ask for on the form?)Lets say that I humor them and fill out the ID theft letter, have it noterized, etc...does that mean that they will automatically remove the TL from my credit report or will they send me some other BS paperwork or whatever?Basically, when I pulled my first CR in 2004, there were four different Citibank accounts on there. One of them was actually mine, and it was marked as "Paid, closed by consumer." The other three were with three different CAs. I disputed all three and two were deleted, but Asset has sent me the ID Theft paper several times, even though I've told them I don't have the information to fill out the form. I've just been waiting for it to go away, but I'm still not sure I understand Ohio laws yet and now that I've been getting approved for new credit, I'm concerned that they'll come after me in the courts. (I see that they've pulled my credit report atleast three times since the beginning of the year, twice since we started trying to buy a house.) SecretAgentWoman
Listen, unless it is ACTUALLY ID theft, and not you playing dumb for credit repair, don't fill out the forms. Then you are committing an offence yourself. If you DO think it's ID theft, then fill out the forms and have done with it.
buckeyechick1219
I believe that it is ID theft. I have no knowledge of the account whatsoever. Nobody has provided me a copy of the signed application. They haven't even told me when the account was opened, just when it was assigned to the collection agency. I don't know where I was supposedly living or any of that information.I don't want to claim ID theft if it is my account, but as far as I know, it's not.
