vermonter
what do you think of this? Today, I have a number I don't recognize on caller ID...reverse directory was Allied Interstate. I have read some about them on the threads on this website. I have disputed a debt with Palisades for over a year now, they never validated, yet CRA's won't remove because they verified repeatedly. I have sent several letters to Palisades. I just checked...Palisades is still listing a collection account on EX and TU. Do you think they sold to Allied Interstate? Is Allied a JDB? This account has been disputed way back to the OC...then went to Wolpoff Abramson, Mann Bracken and Palisades and not one has validated...it's been an outrageous journey! I wonder what's next? What do you all think? TU says it's due to come off 8/08. I was just going to let it go....Allied did not leave any message.
fred_perkins
Your request for Allied to cease their attempts to contact you (at work or elsewhere) must be made in writing, and be sure to send your letter via CERTIFIED MAIL. Return Receipt (green card) is NOT NECESSARY, however you should definitely retain the Certified tracking number! You might also consider sending it via FAX as well, although Certified mail is the best way to do it. I recently sued Allied Interstate for violating my cease and desist request, and they claimed that they never received my letter. They initially indicated that they were going to fight in court, and they paid an outside attorney for several hours of work in their effort to fight me. Eventually the discovery process began after my suit was filed, and I disclosed a dated FAX receipt showing exactly when they received my letter. A few days later, they quietly offered to settle the case for several thousand dollars (the exact amount is confidential).See Bud Hibbs' website (click on "Agencies to Avoid") for more info about the scumbags at Allied and their blatant violations:http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/allied_interstate.htm
