Credit Score after Bankruptcy

Hello everyone! This is my first post, kinda nervous, so please bear with me.

I filed for Bankruptcy in January of 2007, and it is not discharged yet. I went ahead and pulled my reports and my scores because there are a few things on them that I will need to dispute. The bankruptcy is listed as a derogatory on all 3 of my credit reports, and everything that was included in the bankruptcy is reporting correctly, except for 2 TL's that show as Charge offs that I need to have corrected. I pulled my scores, and they are 688,643,and 683 for the FAKO's. Is this as low as they will go, since my bankruptcy is already on file? Not long before I filed, I had perfect credit, it was in the 800's, and I only filed bankruptcy on about 5 accounts. I am PRAYING that this is as far as they dropped-does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thank you for any help!

Everyone's different, but my scores dipped into the high 400s. One day after BK7, I had my buddy who was a mortgage broker pull a tri-merge report because I was curious where my scores were. Sure enough, it was reporting as discharged already but my scores were dreadful. I still have the hard copy!

Hopefully, that will be as low as your scores go- open new credit and your scores will bounce back soon enough. Right out of the gate I wouldn't worry about inquiries one bit.

If these accounts were not charge-offs before you filed, then they can NOT now report them as charge-offs - even if they actually do go thru the accounting function. I would wait at least 3 months AFTER your discharge before you start disputing because even if they show mostly right NOW, that may change. Let the dust settle.

Even though it appears they are currently reporting correctly, that could change and not all creditors report every month, some only report quarterly. Waitng 3 months allows the waves to settle and things to shake out. What's the rush ?? 3 months is NOTHING.

I have 2 credit cards that were in good standing when I filed BK7. They have both been reported on Experian as collection/charge off. I'm not sure I understand the basis for the dispute? Or maybe I just don't understand what is and isn't allowed to report after the BK. Tried searching but can't seem to put in the right terms!! Can you explain a little or point me to a link?

Thanks!

If the accounts were in good standing when you filed BK, then they can NOT report them as charge-offs AFTER your bankruptcy. Even though they do write-off discharged debts, they cannot report it that way.

Everything included in the BK should have a ZERO balance, not show any lates or other negatives AFTER your filing date, and should say 'included in bankruptcy' or similar verbiage.
