Bcredit
Hi. I'm new to the board and still learning the laws and such. My credit only has 3 items on it that are negative and I am trying to find out exactly when these items will drop off. Most are many years old and I paid a couple of them off recently (brings up further questions for later.) My big question is how the heck do I find out what the DOFD is on these accounts? How would I go about obtaining that information? I am signed up with TrueCredit and get my report updated on a very regular basis but TrueCredit doesn't indicate this information on the report, at least not that I have found.I have other questions as well but will post them seperately as I need the information if I am unable to find it via the search function. I searched on this one and was unable to find the answer as to how to get the DOFD on accounts on your credit report. Any help is appreciated. MadinKS
You are better off obtaining your hard copy CR's from all 3 CRA's. They will contain alot more information on them. Have you received your 3 free annual CR's from all 3 CRA's? If not, you should do that first. TC is not always as accurate as the hard copy from each CRA. The link to free annual reports is:https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jspGood luck and welcome.
kevin3344
EQ is the only one that shows the DOFD online...for the others you will need to obtain hardcopies. Unfortunately, TU and EX only show an entry like 'This item to be removed on XXXX date' instead of showing the DOFD. On a side note, paying a CA does not change the DOFD.________Laguna Beach Resort Jomtien Condo Edited September 9, 2011 by kevin3344
thomassl
It's mostly up to you to try to remember when you made your last payment! This is an important date as the CA's and CRA's will try to confuse you regarding this date or even at times reage the account pushing forward the statue of limitations. Check your papers and you could possibly come up with at least the year you stopped paying on the account and might be able to figure it out from there. Bcredit
Thanks for the info. That sucks that I'm already paying TC to view the stuff on my report yet I still need to go spend more money for a hardcopy to get the information I want.I obtained 3 free credit reports before but I don't recall how long ago. I could be coming up on a year but I don't know for sure. Most likely I would have to pay for it. I don't recall it showing that information from the annual report on the website though. Although I wasn't looking for it at the time. Maybe you have to have them mail hardcopies instead? To me it would make sense that the original creditor would have to provide you that info if you asked them. But I don't know the law on that. Sounds like that would fall under debt verification which could bring on a lawsuit if it hasn't reached the SOL.
kevin3344
I use TC but I don't get the tri-merge, I have EQ credit watch gold as well and their report is easier to read. Don't know if that will help you.To me it would make sense that the original creditor would have to provide you that info if you asked them. You can all the CRAs and they will give it to you. It must be provided by the CA within 90 days according to the FCRA. Look at the section on "reporting delinquencies":http://law.freeadvice.com/resources/gov_material/ftc_credit_information_providers_10_97.htm________Live sex Edited September 9, 2011 by kevin3344
Bcredit
Well I did a search through my email and found the disputes I did in Jan. 06, so I guess it has been a year. If I remember correctly when you get your annual credit report you have an option to get it online or have them mail a hardcopy to you and they charge for the hardcopy to be mailed. Is this information provided on the electronic version or should I pay to have the hardcopy mailed to me when I do it again?
MadinKS
If you call each CRA individually, I think you can get a hardcopy free if it's been over a year. You can't very well view them online if you order by phone right? Most of them have a recorded option to order and after a few ID verification questions they will send them in the mail. Or you can just pay the extra to get the hardcopys. Up to you. Good luck.
Bcredit
Thanks MadinKS. I ended up going to the annualcreditreport site and looking up the phone number to order them. I ended up calling one phone number and ordered all three at once. They said it should be mailed within 15 days.My biggest concern is the one I just settled with. As through TC the other 'date reported' dates are correct, but that one was updated as Jan. 06 when it actually went delinquent in like '01 or '02. Also on TC it doesn't give the extra information at all on the collection accounts so I am hoping the hardcopy does.

You'll often see the 'Last Updated' date reflect today's date, when the CO is many years old.________LIVE SEX Edited September 9, 2011 by kevin3344
SecretAgentWoman
If the OC ever appeared on your CR, that's your best bet to find the REAL DOFD.I've started a new round of disputes after I discovered most CAs on my report had a DOFD on average 6 months into the future than the OC.Oh, an I had one CA scumbag tell me a bold faced lie on the phone saying the 7 year date resets every time the account is bought and sold. I laughed.
