OC Charge Offs: Who am I really paying?

I'm sorry if this stuff was covered somewhere, but I couldn't find anything.

Here's my situation:

I have about 5 unresolved/unpaid collection accounts on my credit file. The negative marks on my credit report are not from the CA, rather from the OC. The OC's listings show up as charged off with no reference to having sold the account. So, I have a two part question for you folks; if I pay the CA will it reflect changes on the OC's listing? If not, will a new collection listing show up on my report saying it's paid? (which would be a pain in the *ss)

Also, I have one listing showing an actual collection account. If I'm looking for a deletion, do I need to get that listing deleted as well as the OC's listing? Or, will they both get deleted, once the account is resolved? Can someone offer some knowledge?

If the original creditor still owns the account, you need to contact them as far as settling the account. I would only do so if they remove it from the credit report, thus you sending a PDF, pay for delete letter. If they agree, get it in writing before paying. :ah:ah:ah: Since they own the account, they would contact their collection agency. Notifying them would be part of your PFD letter. If the CA owns the debt, I would do them the same way. If you send them money without anything from them in writing that they will delete, you will get a "Paid in full" on your credit report instead. XhairX In regards to the account which is actually in collections, make sure that you have only one listing for this account. If the original creditor is listed also, the balance should read "0" if the account is sold. xpopcornx
