I have recieved my first update on a PAID collection from many years ago.

This item only appears on Experian, so I am ready to proceed. Here is the updated TL:

FOX COLLECTION CENTER

Address: blah blah

No phone number available

Account Number:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Original Creditor:NASHVILLE ELECTRIC SVC-ELEC

Status:Creditor cannot locate individual/Paid,Closed.

Date Opened: 02/2003 Reported Since: 06/2003

Date of Status: 06/2003 Last Reported: 04/2007

Type:Collection Terms: 1 Months

Monthly Payment: $0 Responsibility: Individual

Credit Limit/Original Amount: $346

High Balance: NA

Recent Balance: NA

Recent Payment: NA

Account History:

Collection as of Jun 2003

Creditor cannot locate individual from June 03, 2003 to Apr 11, 2007

I am a little confused cause it says they cannot locate me, but I have no idea why they would need to, cause this is PAID already. This one TL does not have "status details" like 'this acocunt is scheduled to continue on record until...'. The others on my Experian do have status details. I did call Nashville Electric and they still have record of it and were able to tell me that service stopped in Nov 2001, but payment wasn't recieved until APR 2002.

1-- with all the dates on here, when will this fall off? Is this re-aging?

2-- Am I gonna need one heck of a goodwill letter??? or can I make Fox collection remove it because its inaccurate?

3-- Is there a need to create a paper trail for this? Should I re-dispute with CRA's in writing?

4-- Should I goodwill before at least making it accurate... I mean if I am gonna be stuck with this, a manual review will make people think that I like to skip town...

lol- this being the first official item back from my first disputes, suddenly I am a deer in headlights. I even re-read the primer, and its like the headlights got brighter... just a little nudge in the right direction please.

If you go by the service stop date of 2001, it should fall off around late 2008 or early 2009. Do you have a hardcopy of your TU report? If not, they're real good about putting the date of removal and you need to get a copy.

I wouldn't point out the innaccuracies to the CA. That would only get them to fix it and now all you're left with it a correct paid collection. No help.

3-- Is there a need to create a paper trail for this? Should I re-dispute with CRA's in writing?

Definitely. What ever you do, no matter what it is, document it. Wish I had know that earlier. I wouldn't be in the mess I'm in now.

If it were me, I would write a letter to FOX and explain that you are a well informed consumer and you understand that according to the FDCPA they are required to report accurately, but it doesn't say anything about them having to report it at all. Remind them that they are reporting inaccurately, nicely, and rather than just updating the TL, would they remove it instead. Remind them how old it is, it's paid, blah, blah. If they don't respond, re-dispute. If you wear them out with disputes maybe they will get tired of verifying. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. But its only on the Experian report. Its not listed on Transunion or Equifax.

So sounds like I am gonna need one heck of a goodwill. Hold on folks, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.
