hinvin
Can someone please help meeeeeeeI received a call today from a #866-320-0531 , talking about a credit card collection from 1996 . She asked me to give her my last 4 digit of my ss# , I said " I dont know who you are so I am not going to give out any info and I dont recall having that credit card". She said well we are going to report it and it will be on your credit report. Is she right? can it go back on my credit report? This is not onmy report rite now since it is over 10 years old. What can I do to avoid it showing up on my credit report again?? Some one please help...Thank you
dpgirl
If it's that old, it cannot LEGALLY go on your credit report.

MadinKS
If they do open it and report it, sue the piss out of them. It's time barred by like, 4 years! What company is this?

MadinKS
Have you tried to call the phone company and see if they can tell you who they are? It's worth a shot. If they can't help, go to the TX AG and ask them what you can do to get them to stop.
dpgirl
They also need to contact you in writing within five days of that phone call.
momof5
Take a deep breath!Look, the CA most likely KNOWS that it is past SOL and past the reporting period. They threaten to put it on your CR to scare you (worked didn't it! ) The average person would beg to pay it if they never report it and the CA will take the 'deal' and collect money that they never should have gotten in the first place!Their best tools are fear and ignorance. I would have called the CA a bleeping idiot and laughed at him before I hung up!
zfire
Is it just me thinking this, or are the JDB getting more agressive? It is really ridiculous for them to go after people with things so SOL thatthey no longer even show up on CP. I am getting slammed now for things that are long gone. In self defense, I am writing them all letters remindingthem that the SOL is up. I hope that is the correct way to handle it.
