AMEX-Optima Program...

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Well-we did it. We paid DH's previous bill w/ AMEX and received our Optima Card paperwork. I guess our CL will be 500.00...which is good. We like lower limits at this point, they keep us in check and we can pay them off in full easier BY FAR. My dh added me as an authorized user or what not...so hopefully this will help me to.

Anyway...I sent in the forms the other day, we'll see what happens. I haven't re-checked my Experian yet about the Macy's card though. Still kinda chicken, lol.

Congratulations, the love xsqueezex is on its way.

I am still waiting for mine. I called Amex and they told me they mail the application letter one month after the check clears and then it takes about 3 weeks to get the card. After you have had the card for one year, you may apply for other Amex cards.

Thanks, folks. It's nice to know that some of you folks see my hard work because sometimes I have a hard time seeing it. Too close to the forest I guess...

Anyway...

I do believe the Optima card is part of their Oasis program. I didn't contact them, they contacted me. Apparently it's something that they offer, but isn't attainable unless it is offered by AMEX.

We had to pay a previous CC bill that my dh owed from YEARS ago. I'm not sure what their guidelines are for whether or not they offer this to people, but basically it's a chance to get back in the good graces of AMEX if you've been in the bad, ya know? You have to have a previously unpaid bill with AMEX. That's the only guideline that I know that is clear.

The thing is, my dh didn't owe the money--it was a government CC issued to him by the ARMY and it was their (Amex's) claim that my dh "overspent" but as I recall at the time, they (Army) issued him money onto the card and that's how he used it...not sure what happened. He did have his own card at one time and I paid that one off myself all those years ago. Oh well...

The reason I went ahead and paid this though was because I figured we were at least 2 yrs away from qualifying for AMEX on our own...if not more than 2 yrs...so why the heck not. We desperately needed the FICO boost to, due to trying to REFI our home.

I will add that my dh is 10 yrs older than I am and my goodness has his credit been easier to repair than mine! I've gotten more results and BETTER results. Sheesh, lucky BUM.

Hope that helps.

Because AMEX does this Oasis program, they've truly earned my respect. I will say that. I use to hate them...honestly. Years back, my first husband had them and they were a "YOU MUST PAY IN FULL EACH MONTH" sort of folks...and they seemed pushy and stuff...but they've totally changed my view on them. Which is saying something because I can be pessimistic.

Same here, on the pessimism thing. Did more searching, and worked my way thru the AMEX numbers.

Spoke to someone at the second number. Said call the third number next week. Seemed to imply one could call if one owed, and get the ball rolling to get an offer from AMEX for Oasis.

ALRIGHT!!! Good luck!!! Don't give up. I'm sure if you show an interest in resolving your issues w/ AMEX, at the very least you'll end up on that "list" of folks to offer the OASIS to!! Good luck and let us know how things go,kay?
