always negotiate a PFD when you make payments.

There is a common misconception that paying off a collection will make it go away or make it way less ‘severe’

The damage is already done, a paid of collection is only slightly better than an unpaid collection. If it remains on your credit report, it’s hurting you.

What you want is it to be deleted.

You know after 7 years those negatives are suppose to come off your credit report? If its been longer then 7 years of reporting time(since last payment) then dispute with CRA that they are out of sol. In fact dispute them first, they might come off on their own!

Update 7 and half years...but most times they come off around 7.
