nini
One day I called my phone company AT&T to ask a question, well they answered my question and offered me to join cingular so of coarse I got my 2 free phones, well 2 months ago I paid my bill late (2 weeks late ) so Cingular decides to Suspend my service. When I called and paid to have my service reactivated, they told me that I needed a deposit for $300 per line. There was no way I could do that so I told them that. Well I got my last bill for 500 which includes the ETF for ea. line. I haven't paid it and now went to a collection company. What is my first step should I sent the CA a DV request? Also would this be an Oral Contract because it was all done over the phone?
hiblues
well 2 months ago I paid my bill late (2 weeks late ) Gotta ask....have you made payments after that?when did you get the phones?how many times were you late?.. reallywhen is the DOFD?It just seems WAY to early to be sending this account to collections...is there more to this story that you aren't telling us?If you were only 2 weeks late once, I would call ATT and talk to a managerand get this cleared up, if they can't help, just ask to talk to his/her manager until you get what you want.If there is more to this story then yes DV immediately. If it hasn't hit your CR yet, do everything in your power for it NOT to hit your CR- (get it in writing)
nini
I had been suspended one other time but it was for only a day or 2. When I got the collection notice I had also thought that it was way to early. I have not made any other payments. The date of first delinquancy was in Feb. 10, 2007 I think. I would have to look thru my bills and make sure. I wouldn't leave out any part of the story because this is for my credits sake!

Also would this be an Oral Contract because it was all done over the phone?att is the absolute worst with billing issues..every cell carrier that ive had since the early90's(yeeah,the big a$$ phone times)have been gobbled up by att and theyve completely screwed up the billing..cingular billing called me (when i paid them 2 days late but still with 8 days left in the grace period) wanting to cancel me and charge me for reconnect fees..i told them if they tried that i would file a complaint with the fcc and by their own contract no late fees were due since it was paid within the grace period..how late were you and who terminated contract ,them or you??FCC regulates them by the way...noone else.. cracrap
oh i see 2 weeks...its outside of grace period and its most likely in the contract with you that you owe reconnect fees but read and see what it says about line deposit after needin to pay reconnect fees
