gissyNYC
I sent equifax a dispute letter for an account they were truly reporting erroneous. They sent me back a letter saying i need to verify some information to protect my privacy because the info i gave them didn't match. They want a copy of my SS card or my pay stub (i have been working for 3 years but they don't have my work listed) and a copy of either my license or a utility bill to for proof of address, is it ok to go ahead and send them this information so they can send me the updated report back with the changes? SecretAgentWoman
Yes, verify, they are doing this for your own protection. You are not risking anything.
someonesomewhere
Do verify your info, but I would send 'em a photocopy of my SSN card and not a paystub. Don't give 'em any info they don't need.
timbercreektech
What type of information did you provide originally? This smells of a stall tactic that they use and then claim will start another 30 day period in which to act. How close are you to the 30 days being up? Is your last name extremely common? In the past, I have sent a copy of DL with the DL number blacked out and a photo-copy of my SS card.
