TAB360
Hello All,I am new to this great site, which has allot of useful information!!My question is does anyone have a sample letter(s) to send to the credit bureau requesting to remove a few old chargeoffs? I have one from 1995, another from 2001, another from 2002 etc...they have all been paid off satisfactorily, however I have been doing some research and have read that removing these chargeoffs can increase my credit score.... MadinKS
Have you disputed them yet? If not, make that your first move. If they're paid and pretty old, the CA's may not even bother verifying. Next, read, read, read. Make sure you read the stickeys and especially the one about abbreviations. It will help you alot. That one is here: http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=187Next, read this:http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263069And WELCOME. If you have more questions after your reading assignment let us know. Someone's always around.

MadinKS
If they've all been paid then dispute w/CRA's as "creditor agreed to remove" or "too old to report". If you go to the link for sample letter at the top of this page it will show you a CRA dispute letter. Don't forget to send everything CMRRR so you have proof of delivery. Is that what you were looking for?

VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
what can we do about experian, their online dispute wont dispute anymore..thxsamSend your dispute via snail mail using a different reason. Read up on § 611(a)(3) of the FCRA to learn why they can deem your dispute frivolous and what you can do to avoid it.

So just write a letter disputing "creditor has agreed to remove" even if I have not had any contact with the original creditor in years?Or just write a dispute letter "too old to report" stating the dates reported by the original creditor? Thanks
someonesomewhere
a couple satisfactory and a couple late, but they are old 1995 to 2003.Whoa! There is something on your CRs from 1995? As in the DOFD is from 1995? Yeah, that definitely cannot appear on your report.
MadinKS
So just write a letter disputing "creditor has agreed to remove" even if I have not had any contact with the original creditor in years?Yep. Why not? It's worked for me. I had two paid collections w/a CA and disputed as not mine. They verified. I tried "creditor agreed to remove" and they deleted. Worth a shot. TAB360
Whoa! There is something on your CRs from 1995? As in the DOFD is from 1995? Yeah, that definitely cannot appear on your report.I have the following old accounts: Citibank 01/01/1994: Paid as agreed Citi 03/01/1995: Paid satisfactorily Capitol One 05/01/1999: Paid Satisfactorily Amex 03/01/1996: Paid Satifactorily Best Card 01/01/1996: Paid as agreed Bank of America 02/1/1999: Paid, was past due 60 days Pinnacle 10/01/1996: Paid account as agreed Pinnacle 05/06/2000: Paid as agreed Sears 07/01/2000: Account transferred/sold Musicland 09/01/2003: Bad dept placed in collectionAnd the rest are paid off ranging from 2003 to 2006 and one account in lawyer collection that is current-that one is going to take a whole other approach....I want to remove the older above accounts to raise my credit score as they were all accounts from when I was younger and didn't value credit as much as I do now that I am older! Do the accounts that are "Paid Satifactorily" or "Paid as Agreed" good or bad for my score?
MadinKS
Try for delete on these:Sears 07/01/2000: Account transferred/soldMusicland 09/01/2003: Bad dept placed in collectionTry for GW w/this:Bank of America 02/1/1999: Paid, was past due 60 daysThe rest of them show good history. I wouldn't get them deleted. If they are positive then I would leave them alone. JMHO.
someonesomewhere
Do the accounts that are "Paid Satifactorily" or "Paid as Agreed" good or bad for my score?TU and EX segregate the good and the bad TLs. There's no question which ones are bad and which ones are good. Bad ones are listed first on the report.EQ comingles them and lists them alphabetically.Any old bads, dispute as too old. Don't mess with old good TLs.
