Basically, DOLA is the last time you made any payments on the account. If they report a new DOLA, it will re-age your account and make it look more recent. If this is happening you need to dispute w/CRAs and tell them you dispute the DOLA specifically. Also, you need to send a letter to the CA that tell them you are on to their tactic. This is illegal and you need to let them know that you know that.

Not exactly. Its the "date of first delinquency" that is important. This is the date on which the account was first delinquent and never brought current. This determines when the account will fall off your credit reports. Its established with the OC...and the CA needs to abide by the same date.

DOLA can be a payment, but it can also be a charge...or, it can even be the date on which the CA aquired the debt. You could, for example, have a DOLA if you made a partial payment to the OC...after the DOFD...that would not reset the 7 year clock.

(Just to further confuse things...some states do use the DOLA in determing the SOL...but again (Usually, anyway)...its the DOLA with the OC, not the CA).
