I am a little confused, i have 2 debts with discover that are aprox 1 year old they are listed as charged off on cr. These accounts have been with a ca for quite a while now, however i see nothing on the cr from them? One is now with a third party ca attorney, and have just sent out dv letter. Has my cr just not been brought up to date or does this seem to you that i may still be able to settle with oc if the debt comes back verified?

When was the last time you checked your CR. Also, if you DV'd, did it get delivered yet? If it was delivered, then they are following the law by not reporting it (if it's within the 30 day window). Reporting can be a form of collection and is illegal if they didn't validate the debt w/you.

I'm just back through your posts and catching this one. I also have an account with Discover, and owe slighty more than you. It shows the same thing on my cr (charge off, no info about ca on cr). Is the ca by any chance NCO? I don't remember seeing the name of the ca in your other posts.

I ask because when I called D, they said it has been assigned to NCO- the litigation department. I have yet to receive anything from NCO and they are not reporting (they did do an inquiry in 11/06). I've sent payment directly to D, and they've accepted, as they do still hold the account. I'm sending D a letter saying that I plan to continue to send payment to D, as I don't trust NCO with my money, and I still haven't received a letter or phone call from them anyway.

editing to add: this is my first attempt, and I'm new at this, so don't take my info as gospel. I'm still learning too!
