Affidavit of fraudulent application?

Hello everyone I would like to start out by saying what a great site this is and I cant believe it took me so long to find it! Anyway I disputed all of my negative credit items with the big three and have been waiting for a response for about 3 weeks. Today I recieved a letter from applied card bank asking for proof of identity. 1. A copy of driver's license 2. Copy of social 3. Proff of current address. And the one that I am worried about. The completed original affidavit of fraudulent application which must be notarized and a copy of law enforcement agency report naming the applied card bank account must be supplied. They want me to sign an affidavit and get it notarized saying that under penalty of perjury I had no idea of this account and did not consent to opening it. Now correct me if I,m wrong but this sounds like a good way to get my self in trouble. I am wondering if the reason they sent me a fraud letter was because of the way that I disputed the big three. I disputed online and said that I had no memory of this account and I said the same thing for all the negative items with all 3 reporting agencys. Please help with this as I have no idea how to proceed.

Thanks Eric

Welcome...and, you're right...they're asking you to hang yourself.

I'd suggest copy what they sent, and then send the original material back to them UNSIGNED along with a letter saying "...I'm not claiming identity fraud...I'm just saying I have no memory of opening this account. Send me proof that I did open it, or get off my credit reports..."

(This is a standard response to the "not mine" dispute. Don't fall for it.)

I have also used this tactic:

"I cannot say that it is a fraudulent account! Someone who has a name identical/similar to mine may have opened such an account. What I am saying is *I* don't recall an account with you. Send me proof that it is/was me or delete it from the credit bureaus!"
