egallagher2k
I recently DV'd a local medical collection agency on 4 tradelines in my CR's. What they sent me back is a itemized bill from the OC freshly printed and not containing my name anywhere on the 5 pages. The items listed were supplies and services rendered on the same admission date for my dependent son. Nothing else.My strategy is to wait the full 30 days and DV them again asking them to remove the 3 TL's they hadn't respoded to and to properly validate the alleged debt descibed above.Any thoughts? MadinKS
Why wait? Send them a second DV, explaining that you don't see where you are responsible since they never put the name of the responsible party anywhere on the statement. Then when you get the green card back, re/dispute w/CRAs. Force their hand. JMHO.

I would guess they're fairly new. too (less than 2yrs). If you're not going to pay the bill to the hospital, don't waste your time with the second DV. If you're trying to get them on some sort of violation, I don't think it's going to happen.
egallagher2k
Are you for real? I do not know these are mine and from what I've read here many people have experienced hospital billing that is very faulty. A request for validation is just that....a request for validation.Actually having gone through this five page, 207 item bill I have found several mistakes. Also this is an in-network facility referred to by an in-network doctor and yes I have many many questions about it's validity.BTW, they have already violated by not reporting this item as disputed. Any more great advice?
CleverCynic
Actually I don't think they're allowed to put personally identifiable information on health records through the mail due to the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of '96). They probably have different guidelines to go by for DV that is acceptable to the bureaus because of it. Just putting it out there. G'luck! Big Time
Hmm, if Clever is correct, they would have to put an account number or somethign used to identify you.But in your second DV, you should still challenge the lack of your name to see what you say. Also attack the amounts they are claiming and ask how they arrived at that figure for each item claimed and politely accuse them of price gouging their supplies. They probably won't want to take the time to explain it all to you, and you may be able to use that against them in the future if they blow you off.Make sure you get hard copies of your credit reports now, before you let them know of the dispute violation, since internet copies won't work in court. But it's possible they reports just haven't updated yet.You also need to go ahead and dispute directly with the CRA's (1-2 punch) and see what falls off. A request for validation is just that....a request for validation. My point was that you already indicated that you recognized the charges as originating from services rendered to your son. You received your response from the CA. If you have an issue with what's on the bills (as far as itemized charges) the CA can't do anything about that. You'll need to get that fixed through the health care provider. The older this account gets, the less your chances are of getting the errors corrected.
