colajunkie
I read the sticky step by step instructions. Thing is, I already have charge off's and 95% are with collection agencies. How do you handle that??? I have tried in the past to settle. Even when I had the money to pay, one lump sum, they played games! Why not take the money? One thing, I tried to work out how it would show on my credit report and got nowhere. I also want an agreement about any amount left over from the settlement not be sent off to some other CA to collect on. What do I do? How to handle this? Should I just accept whatever they put on my credit report to just be done with it? We want to buy a house. One other little note. They wanted my bank account number. I wouldn't give it. I think one or two mentioned western union.

AISLE4
List your creditors and the amounts owed. Don't give the exact numbers--round them up or down. The settlement policies of the various creditors vary. Most of your accounts have charged off. When did they charge off? Are they still owned by the original creditors or have they been sold? just because the accounts are with collection agencies doesn't mean that the CAs own those accounts.NEVER give a CA your banking info. NEVER. The easiest way to end that conversation is to tell them that you don't have a bank account.
