simplysilky
I need to rephrase my question because I'm not sure if anyone understood what I was asking before!I got all 3 reports from myfico.com. Now I want to dispute several items on all 3. There is no way for me to dispute them thru myfico.com, so now I want to know how to dispute. If I go to the CRA websites, will I have to pay to get my reports with the required report number? On my reports from myfico.com, there isn't a REPORT number in order for me to dispute. MountainDude
Get your free credit reports from freecreditreport.com.How do you have over a hundred posts and not know how to dispute?j
Big Time
Isn't it annualcreditreport.com?Silky, most seasoned people here will tell you the following about the services we use:1) Truecredit is only good for one thing, alerts in your e-mail about changes to you reports that you can view. Their "advice" as to how to increase your score is trite and self-serving.2) MyFico is only good for actual scores, and perhaps seeing slightly more detailed reports that Truecredit. Their advice on how to increse your scores is a little better, but still leaves a lot out.3) To dispute, you need to go ahead and buy seperate credit reports from each CRA, with a report number. The only exception is either Ex or EQ (I can never remeber) which has some sort of sneaky way you can see your report and dispute without paying for anything. It is also best to order hard copies by phone in case you need them as evidence because internet reports are like hearsay.Individual reports from each CRA will be about $10 each, but don't include FICO scores, so the money you spent with MYFICO isn't wasted, so try no to let that bother you. Yes, I got those already....so I know a little "something"....simplysilky...I paid for the 3-in-1 report from freecreditreport.com and it does NOT give report numbers, as least not the 3-in-1....don't know about the individual ones....I also went to annualcreditreport.com and got a "free" report from each individual CRA. The EX and TU both have a report # but the EQ does not...I posted somewhere else here about that and was answered back in the manner that with EQ disputes I don't need a report #, just the Acct # on the TL I am disputing...Haven't disputed yet so don't know for sure!! Now, I have a question for BigTime due to your post here....."It is also best to order hard copies by phone in case you need them as evidence because internet reports are like hearsay."I hadn't read that here before, at least not up to this point of my searching here, so I really need to also pay for these hard copies? So a copy of our internet report is not really good? we really need these "hard copies"???thanks,
newbie7069
Since you have already paid myfico for your reports I don't see why should have to purchase them again through the individual CRAs to do a dispute, unless you really want to do online disputes. Use the information given on your FICO reports to write the disputes and send them CMRR. After reviewing your disputes, the CRAs will then send you revised copies of your reports along with the resolution of your disputes. These reports will have report numbers on them and you'll be getting them for free. Just my $.02.ETA: I wanted to point out that if you get your report through annualfreereport then the CRAs actually have 45 days to do the investigation instead of the normal 30. newbie7069
Hadn't heard that before...why and where is this stated in the statutes...Look over FCRA 612(3) REINVESTIGATIONS- Notwithstanding the time periods specified in section 611(a)(1), a reinvestigation under that section by a consumer reporting agency upon a request of a consumer that is made after receiving a consumer report under this subsection shall be completed not later than 45 days after the date on which the request is received

I suppose you could try it, but the bad guy lawyers will probably challenge it as hearsay evidence and that it could have been manipulated by you. answer2prayer
Thanks again BigTime...this is good to know...just in case....newbie7069I read the 612 that you referenced along with 611 (since it starts off stating...notwithstanding the time periods in 611(a)(1) and really don't understand the difference in the reinvestigation time frame in 611 and the reinvestigation time frame in 612 ???...gonna have to re-read it again...
