Being sued with "does"? What does it mean?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Okay, so Cap One *can* sue me even though the account was charged off. I have another question, however: under the section where it names who the defendant is, it says my name, and it also says "DOES 1 TO 10", like "John Doe." Does anyone know what that means?

Thanks!

Yeah, charge off is just an accounting term, they still own it.

When I faced my first lawsuit , I was like "What are they saying I do? 1 through 10? 1 through 10 what?"

Anyone lese who may have used your credit card, but they don't know who they are yet, they just call them "does" until they find out.
