feedup
I have a debt that I've been paying on that has been sold to a new CA. Looking at my caller ID the phone number the new CA is calling from is Canada. When I search for the company name, nothing comes up. How does this change my approach to dealing with the CA? Or does it?HELP!
thomassl
Many companies use call centers which are located throughout the world. This is not unusual.

I hate it when the Call and refuse to provide a method for written contact! I don't want to deal with them by phone, I want it in writing ... Suggestions? merkurfan
plug the number in to whocalled.us.. likely it will come up for you. You can also google the number, if it's a good number their web site will likely be among those listed in google search.

buckeyechick1219
Have you tried the BBB look up by phone number? I have found a lot of CA's by going to bbb.org and searching for their phone #.
feedup
BINGO! However .. it came up with a name/address that I already had The post office has returned certified letters sent to that address as non-deliverable; no forwarding address.Which tells me I am on the right track! The company is a 2nd party collection agency, I've found 3 addresses on them. The post office has returned 2 of these letters and the 3rd was delivered. To date no response to the 3rd letter.Next step???

Methuss
If they call again, ask for their address and record the call. Refusal to give a mailing address is a violation of the FDCPA because it vexes the consumer's ability to dispute or request validation of the debt. There is case law on this. If they refuse, firmly remind them you have a right to dispute under law and refusal to provide the address to send correspondense to is a violation of law.
