freebase
Hi AllI need some help fast. I am going to court tomorrow morning. A JDB is suing me for an old cc debt. What I need is the part of the FDCPA and FCRA that explains debt validation, the part that requires a signiture, contract ect as proof of the debt. The court sent me exhibit a - a plain piece of paper with my name, a bank name, acct num and balance, nothing with my signiture. My lawyer said that I had nothing to worry about. The paper they sent is vague at best. I told him what I was going to do and he said that there shouldn't be any problem. I had the sections of the law I needed but I can't find the copy. Please help

kevin3344
I think you're looking for the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA). It covers debt validation:http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm
IHateCAs
There is nothing in the FDCPA about showing a signature on a contract to prove a debt.Good luck.
