Good morning everyone! I stumbled upon this site yesterday. I spent hrs reading. I've been search for a place like this for years.

I found your Good will letter, I couldn't find any answers to this. I know to send it to the OC but should I also send the same GWL to the CRA? does the OC have the same 30-45 days to respond?

I'm sending 2 letters out 1 to

Capital one and U.S depart of Edu, should I call them to see if there's a name I should send these directly to or to whom it make concern should be good enough.

Has anyone tried faxing it over and use the fax time stamp to show when you sent them something instead of always having to fedex or cert letter.

welcome to CIC.

I dont think the government loan folks are going to do a goodwill.

Do not send a goodwill letter to the CRA. Only send it to the OC. In your case Capital one.

You can email the goodwill letter if you can find an email address. No need to spend money sending the goodwill letter.

There is no set time where they have to respond to a goodwill letter. They dont have to respond. You are asking them to be nice and delete something that is reporting correctly. So no time limits, just keep your fingers cross that they will delete.

Again welcome... Which goodwill letter are you using???

Crap one is difficult to work with but not impossible.

*****Since you don't think I should send it to US dept of EDU, what should I send? I have some late payments from 02, been on time for yrs now but that still hurts me.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you today regarding my******** account which I had while I was a student. The purpose of my correspondence is to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill" adjustment on the reporting of this account to the three credit agencies.

During the time period this account was established I had was very happy with the service, I was however not the ideal customer and made mistakes with my handling of the account. I should have kept better records regarding the account and I take full responsibility. I became aware of the unpaid balance when I got a copy of my credit report in April 2007.

I know that payment was my responsibility and I am not attempting to justify this breach of your agreement, I was however hoping you might review the circumstances under which this non-payment occurred and consider removing the negative trade line associated with this account from my three credit reports.

I would like to STRESS that the information currently being reported IS accurate, (I am not disputing anything with the account. I am simply asking you for a courtesy gesture of goodwill in having the credit bureaus remove this account from my report. I do recognize that this request is unique and that it may not be Capital one normal policy. Please consider that the Fair Credit Reporting Act does not demand that all accounts be reported, only that any account that is reported be reported accurately. Therefore, a company does have legal discretion and permission to remove any account it chooses from the credit report. I'm hoping that you will do that in my case for this account. I am trying to buy a house and this is hurting me.

Your kind consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards
