Stupid NCO...Really this DUMB?

Recently, my daughter received a first letter from NCO attempting to collect a time-barred medical bill which was incurred in 1998-99. She was a minor at the time of treatment. Rather than sending them a FOAD letter, I did send them a DV...I just wanted to see what they had in the way of "proof". In yesterday's mail, she received a letter attaching a print-out of the alleged bill. It was not on company letterhead, or billing...and it was dated 4/6/07, and postmarked 4/7/07. It normally does not take 2 weeks for mail to come from PA to TN, so I am sure they held it for a while.

On this "bill" it says at the top "Bill1.txt". They didn't even hide the fact that they copy/pasted something from a computer screen into ta text file and sent it.

Now, I'm looking at this bill...everything has zero's on it but it does show the date of service as 05/20/00...WRONG. They have altered the address to THIS address (which I didn't live on that date) but they never changed my old phone number. Also, have altered the date of service because I know when my daughter received this treatment...and it was 1998. At that time, she was a minor...and I was the responsible party.

Here's the dilemma...do I call their bluff on the altered state of the bill in my FOAD letter? Do I write back and say, there's no way that this was "her" bill since the address they list on the bill is NOT the address "she" was living at at the time of the service? In other words, the information they have sent is fraudulent...so does "she" continue to play the game with them to get them to change information to where it falls to the right date of service, the right address, etc...thus proving they are altering documents...or is this enough to sue them based on fraudulent information?

Or does "she" just send them a FOAD letter?

geesh, NCO at it again. those scumbags never learn....

I would opt for the FOAD letter from your daughter initially. Wait for their response- if they do respond- should be interesting and add to your ammunition to hang them in court!

Thanks, guys...how does this sound?

Your letter dated 4/6/07, postmarked 4/7/07 was received on 4/24/07.

Please be advised you have not provided the validation information requested in my original letter dated 4/3/07. Furthermore, from your own documents, the debt you claim I owe is time-barred by the Statute of Limitations for the State of Tennessee.

This letter is to notify you that I do not wish further contact in matter. You are to cease and desist any further communication in regard to this matter.

I just want to hang them up by their toenails....

OH please do what I did.. go the PA.. AG website.. there you can file a complaint about NCO.. they have been collecting them.. NCO was fined very heavily a few years back..

you can file the complaint online.. it takes minutes.. the AG was all over it to the point where NCO sent me an apology letter and even made sure all entries were removed from my CR.. NCO HATES the PA AG

I'm certain that I could probably find it myself, but if you don't mind, what's the website for the PA AG? I received another collection notice from NCO for a debt I paid off in full in 2002. I was stupid and paid a CA (what the heck did I know?) who cashed the check and apparently sold it off to another CA. Each CA this has bounced to I have sent all my documentation showing the debt was paid, and each promised xhitwallx to remove it from their records and stop collecting. I've done the same with NCO three years ago and they are still sending notices from time to time. I've had it up to here with them! ::thunderously::
