Tazjeepcj7
Is it a common occurance for an original creditor not to report a date of first delinquency? I got concerned when I disputed an old account on Experian and the original creditor verified the account but dropped the older reported collection activity on my account. Worried that the account had been re-aged, I tried (unsuccessfully) to get Experian to give me the DOFD. I then looked at my Equifax report and saw the DOFD section was empty. I've written Experian and asked that the account be deleted as the original contractor is in violation of FCRA for not reporting the DOFD within 90 days of the account being placed for collection. CleverCynic
Is it listed as revolving or collection account? It may be the same name with just a minor change to reflect an in-house collection agency possibly. All my CA's show N/A for DOFD since technically there's never been any with them. Tazjeepcj7
This account is listed as a charge-off. The JDB that bought this account tried to go the "factoring" route; got their trash off my account years ago.
Tazjeepcj7
Collection agencies are required by FCRA to acquire the DOFD from the original creditor or use reasonable methods to determine the DOFD if the information is not available from the OC. CleverCynic
Ok... I may have another angle to work then as well... maybe my disputes will fly. I've reported them all as too old and none of them have dates except last reported which is the same as the account open date (of the CA). AFNI's the only one that has one.
