RSB
Can CA check your credit(hard pull-stays 2 yrs)when....you do not have an account with them, listed on your credit report? The CA sent me a bill, in Oct 2006, and said I agreed, via telephone, to pay it.I do not have a listed number...so I wrote and told them I never talked to them, ever. I think the credit card they say I owe them for, is from 1999..or earlier...WAY past SOL.Is the CA breaking US collection laws?thanks.
timbercreektech
I just wanted to inject that many people ask if certain actions are illegal. In most cases there are laws covering most of the infractions by OC's, CRA's, and CA's. While something may be illegal, the law is a civil law, not criminal. Most of the OC's, CRA's, and CA's do break the laws but it is up to YOU, to either document the occurrences, try and resolve, and finally take to court the evil doers. Since most people do not do any of the above, the evil doers will blatantly violate the law using less than ethical means, scare mongering, threatening, harassing, etc.. It's a matter of numbers for them. So, it is only illegal if YOU do something about it. There is no civil police looking for the bad guys. What are the infractions? Take a seat and start reading this board.
