I have a question about my credit report

Recommended Posts

Okay this for the experts on this board. I pulled my CR today from equifax, and it shows some charge off accounts with a past due account. I thought if the account had been charged off it suppose to show 0 balance?

I have 11 baddies on my CR but it only have 7 listed as negative accounts, I don't understand this?

Citifinance is a charge off account with a 0 balance showing paid. I made a mistake and disputed this today but it is not listed as negative info. By this account not being listed as a negative but a charge off with 0 balance does it still affect my score and being albe to obtain credit. Also did I mess up by disputing it, and it is not out of sol?

Since my CR is showing only 7 negative listings should these be the only ones that I should be worried about?

One more thing, Wells Fargo has 1 account listed with the same account number with 2 different balances, I disputed this account and told them they were reporting this account twice with different balance? What should I do about this one?

Thanks in advance for your replies, and I hope this isn't confusing.

Only if it was sold/transferred or paid.

EQ usually list accounts in alphabetical order; collections are usually towards the end of the report. Some baddies could also be labeled as "other accounts". Are you also counting the TLs w/ late pays?

Are you sure it's your EQ report you're talking about or your EX report? I ask b/c EX sorts accounts by positives & negatives...and is known to place a paid CO in the "positive" section although FICO still counts it as a negative. So yes...it still hurts your score. So, it doesn't matter if it's labeled as a negative or positive, the CO status is still there and FICO will know that. As far as disputing it and it not being out of SOL, that doesn't matter. It's paid. So what are they going to sue you for???

Negatives are not the only things that affect your score and overall CR; put focus on your positive accounts. Keep paying on time and build up a positive payment history. Even if you get rid of all your negatives, that doesn't mean that your scores will skyrocket. It depends on the variety of credit you have, payment history, and age of accounts.

Click on the "Dispute w/ Orig. Creditors" link @ the top. That should be your next step.
