Eskanos & Adler letter

I was involved in a dispute over an item I sold on ebay 9 months ago for $600.

The buyer filed a complaint and paypal took his side and has been after me for

that money ever since. Paypal has stopped all human collection calls but I

recently received a letter from Eskanos & Adler in California that says they are

collecting on the debt and to reply if I dispute. Well I do dispute it but I want to

know if I should reply or not?? Would an out-of-state law firm bother suing over

a debateable $600 disagreement? Paypal doesn't have my SS# if that matters.

Hi, This is my first posting. I found this site as I was searching for information about this Law Firm. I received the first call on my answering machine and was wondering what to expect from them. I read a lot of negative comments through this forum, as well as from the internet and from what I read, it would seem that I will be going through some tough times with them. Presently I am working with a debt consolidator to settle my debt. I have also left a message with them that I had received a phone call from Eskanos & Adler. I do not think my debt consolidator agent would be calling them since the account they have set for me to pay off my debt have insufficient amount to cover the debt. Should I return the call? I am at a lost here. Oh and I live in California.

Thanks!

not that I think they would bother with this debt but Hawaii guy is wrong.. I was sued by lawyers out of state.. and yes they can.. the simply farm it out to a local firm. In many states a CA has to be licensed but lawyers have carte blanche.. assume nothing just because they are out of state.
