Bogarden
I bought a Dell computer a few years back through DFS. A couple years ago I started having trouble making the payments but I did manage to make some. Later I couldnt make any at all (job market sucks for my field in my state... heck it sucks all together). At any rate now I am dealing with Valentine and Kebartas. They used scare tactics... calling over and over and over... I told them my situation and of course they were unsympathetic. I stopped answering the calls from them. So finally I answered one day and again more scare tactics.. IE) civil suit, major fees, REPOSESSING my 5 year old computer.. Needless to say I didnt know my rights so I sent in a payment after some family members had pitty on me. Well that was a one time deal. Now I dont know what to do. Anyone have any advice? willingtocope
So, what is the status now? Are they still calling? How much do they say you owe? Does Dell still own the debt, or has it been sold?
Bogarden
Well if i would have paid in full its 1700 bucks but I couldnt do that so its 6 payments of 400 and change. And from what I can tell Dell still owns the debt. As on my credit report it didnt say sold to another agency or anything.
willingtocope
Then I'd suggest you call DFS directly...see what you can work out. They'll probably push you to the CA, but, if it were me, I'd say "sorry, I don't work with collection agencies...if you want your money, you deal with me yourself".
