pinkeysas
I've done some research into the debts that I owe. On my CR's there are 3 CA's listed. They are collecting on behalf of Cingular, SBC and Alpha Communications respectively.I called all three of those OC's to see if they had me on record as ever having an account with them. All of them did have me on record as having old accounts with them that they sold off to collections. I asked them who they sell there debts to. What they all told me did coincide with the CA's listed on my reports. So this basically means that these are my debts and I do have to pay if I want them off correct? I mean DVing and Disputing wont get me anywhere right?I already disputed before calling these OC's and the CA's I disputed all came back verified. So, I should just try to get the PFD done with and hope the CA's accept right? gypsie
If you've exhausted all of your DV options, then yes, a PFD- in writing of course- is something to attempt to negociate. However, if the debts are within SOL for collecting then you don't have much negociating leverage. You may want to try a PFD with the OCs first. They may take your money, and then you will immediately dispute the CA TL with the CRA- because what they are reporting will be false- however, the CA may just update to a "paid" status- even though you paid the OC, but worth a shot. Some OCs will not accept payment once the debt has been sold.If you do go ahead and pay the CA ( and say they won't opt for a PFD) then - you will end up with a "paid" collection that will look current in the eyes of FICO and plummit your scores- but you've always got ways to try and have a paid collection removed. As I've said in other posts- I have been known to literally bombard a CA with goodwill letters, begging emails, tons of disputing over and over until the CRAs wouldn't let me dispute anymore, and lots of calls to the CA begging until they gave in just to get rid of me and removed the TL. pinkeysas
Thanks Gypsie. As I've said in other posts- I have been known to literally bombard a CA with goodwill letters, begging emails, tons of disputing over and over until the CRAs wouldn't let me dispute anymore, and lots of calls to the CA begging until they gave in just to get rid of me and removed the TL.Ha thats a good idea. Annoy the crap out of them they way they did to you before you paid them. A taste of their own medicine!!!! If you don't mind me asking, what CA's did you do this with and which ones finally complied??
