feedup
Looking over my report there is a discover account that I closed in 5/98. It's listed as closed by consumer.Should I request that this be removed? Or is it better to leave alone?
timbercreektech
There is not enough information to determine whether you should. There is nothing derogatory about saying "Closed at Consumers Request.", if you have late pays and Charge Offs, thats another story.
feedup
No negative comments or late pays ....
kevin3344
Generally I leave old accounts, because removing them will make the average age of all of your accounts go down. So it may have an adverse affect. Usually, if it's not definitely a baddie, like a CO, I leave it alone.
redbank
if it was closed in 98, when was it opened? I wonder if you could call discover and get them to re-open it? Then you would have a really good trade line with lots of history! Well if its on there now, it should be in positive status, so personally I would leave it alone. BUT if you could get it re-opened, and keep the utilization low... even better.
