I pulled reports for both my husband and I. Then I wrote all the collection agencies and offered them 50% of the total amount owed for all our accounts even ones that are 4 yrs old. I didn't know at the time about validating the debt. Is it too late to do this or do I have to pay them now?

The oldest a old verizon acct has accepted my offer to be paid in full but I also requested that they completely remove it. In their letter to me it only states that they argee to accept it as paid in full. This has been though numerous agencies already should I pay it under the terms that I will not send the check until they completely remove it? or should I try and make them validate it?

The newest account will not accept any settlement except the full amount it is medical bills from last year. How can I get them to accept a settlement and how much should I settle for ?

Hi

DV is only valid within 30 days of initial contact by a new CA.

It sounds like you are WAY past that point.

Read the Primer.... get a PFD with any CA, especially since they are not threatening to sue. Be patient.

Before making settlement offers you should always DV, it doesn't matter how old the CO is.

This is up to them...some accept a settlement, some don't. You'll have to try a different avenue. Start with a DV and go from there. Do everything in writing.
