mydogbarron
I started the DV process after disputing w. the CBs and all 3 CBs refused to remove the items from my reports. I just sent out my second letter and I have a situation with a CA that responded to my 2nd DV letter with some, but not all, of the requested validation info. Specifically They didn't show proof that they're allowed to collect in my state, their license number/registered agent number, or prove that the SOL hasn't run out.I'm kind of lost now: do I wait the 15 days and send a "remove in 5" letter or am I obligated to write back to them again telling them that they only provided some of the info requested? Thanks in advance. That's not what validation consists of. Did they send you anything that indicates they nature and of the debt and who the original creditor is? If not, what did they give you? mydogbarron
They don't have to give you any of that information. That's not what validation consists of. Did they send you anything that indicates they nature and of the debt and who the original creditor is? If not, what did they give you?Wait, they don't have to prove that they have a legal right to even collect debts in my state? That seems a little weird. How do I know they're not some fly-by-night operation just trying to make a quick buck off of me? Also, if they aren't responsible for providing proof of license why is that even in the DV template letter on this site?I appreciate the help, and I'm not trying to be difficult, but this is all new to me. bulabula
Hi:Yes I'm a newb, but I was reading this very thing this morning and it might clear things up for you.Got to this page: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtmlAnd Down under the Heading "The Debt Validation Strategy" #7 there are two references/links to help about the licensing requirements. CA does not require agencies to be bonded or licensed, therefore they did not have to provide info for that.
nascar
Wait, they don't have to prove that they have a legal right to even collect debts in my state? That is not one of the requirements to a legally sufficient DV response.
