PRESCOTT
Hello everyone, I just started cleaning my credit on my own with no knowledge of this wonderful site. I started by pulling all three online bureaus and disputing every collection account I had online with experian and on the phone with Trans and Equifax. As of 03/04/07 my scores were as follows: TU-560 COLLECTIONS 25 EQ-585 COLLECTIONS 26 EX-560 COLLECTIONS 26 AS OF 04/29/07 MY SCORES ARE AS FOLLOWS TU-644 COLLECTIONS 15 EQ-672 COLLECTIONS 4 EX- 605 COLLECTIONS 24 I seem to be stuck and don't know where or how to best proceed. Almost all are medical collections from when I had a wicked drug problem and they are almost all from 2003 and 2004 when I lived in california. I now live in Louisiana. One of the collections is for over $20,000,and, that company also has possession of four of my other collections. I have a lawyer in California who I send any correspondence that i recieve from agencies looking for money and he basically throws them in the trick bag until the SOL runs out. Does my disputing them affect the SOL? And, since I am in Louisiana, which has a 10 year SOL versus Cali's 4 year SOL, Are there any special concerns I should have? I seem to have hit a brick wall and am wondering if there is a way of attacking this problem with letters. Any advice would be appreciated as i would like to buy a house stated income and I need my scores higher. Eq allowed me to dispute hard inquiries on the phone. I had 23 and now I have only 5. I talked to TU and EXP and they said I couldn't dispute any inquiries, despite the fact that i have about 6 from Collection Agencies, which ain't right. Also, i had a dental collection which should be off now as it was first reported in 1999,and it has been sold to a new company that list it's reporting date as 2005. How can I get that one off? Thanks, I know I have a lot of questions, but, my goal is to get my score up without paying anything. In the case of the $20,000 collection, I don't want to wake up a sleeping tiger. Take care

lyle7289
Without doing a PFD, the only way to remove them from your report is to dispute them in hopes the CA does not verify or respond.

Once you've disputed to the CRA, you can ask for an investigation from the OC. Medicals usually have crappy records after 3 or 4 years, so if they can't verify, they have to delete. Look on the front page of the creditinfocenter website. There's an article about disputing to the OC that will give you more info. Also, i had a dental collection which should be off now as it was first reported in 1999,and it has been sold to a new company that list it's reporting date as 2005. How can I get that one off?The account can only stay on there for 7 years (+ 120 days I think...) past the date you were first delinquent. They can't re-age the account just by taking it over. Do a search on re-aging for more info about this.Good luck!
Big Time
Paying them wouldn't get rid of them anyway, at least not on your credit reports. You are at the point to where you are going to have to develop a litigious mentality if you are willing to do so.You need to examine the remaining collection tradelines for re-aging and see if any of them list any account as "open" or some version of the word "factoring." Also look for how much time has gone between inquiries. If it has been at least 60 days since you talked to the CRA's on the phone, I would suggest some nice, quiet disputes online. Go ahead and buy your individual reports from each CRA, which will cost you about $30, since you may need them as evidence as a later date. Once you get them, do the online disputes, challenging the details (dates, amounts) of the remaining tradelines. Try not to use "not mine" as the CRA's sometimes like to use that as an excuse to place a fraud alert on your reports as punishment for daring to try to put your life back together. "No knowledge of account" is sort of the same as "not mine" but some people have used it successfully. If the CA doesn't respond to the CRA's investigation request, that will trigger deletion like all the others you got.The big $20K amounts will probably be close to impossible for you to get rid of unless you are willing and able to pay and can negotiate a settlement. If you apply for new credit, the CRA's will narc on you to the CA's, who will assume that you can pay since you are applying for new credit. They also seem to be keeping an eye on your reports to see if you pay a lot of your other balances down.Keep reading and also check out the litigious minds at debtorboards.com and infiniecredit.com.
