hiblues
You can dispute inquires just as you can anything else on your CR. Except that you have to mail it in as the CRA's do not provide an option on line to dispute them ( at least I have never seen it).Don't know about Q. #
CleverCynic
Transunion and Experian you have to write to for inquiry removal which may or may not work. For Equifax it's pretty easy. Use this link:https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/sitepage.ehtml?forward=online_dispute Put in your zip code and submit. Then click the link that says "If you do not have a confirmation number, CLICK HERE to start your investigation. (Do this even though you probably DO have a confirmation number otherwise this won't work)Then fill in the RED lines, again without putting in the confirmation number. Then manually type in the inquiries you want removed in a format similar to this:Top Line:Collection agency, courthouse, or credit company name: Inquiry - GEMB/JCP - 02/2007Bottom line:Case # or Account #: GEMB/JCP - InqCheck the "NOT MINE" box for each. You should have a printed copy or your report open in another window so you can copy the information. You can do up to six at a time and most of us have seen them removed within a couple days.
UNCForest
Does EQ ever flat out reject your dispute of an inquiry?
CleverCynic
All of the testimonials I have read in the threads have been successful, with some removing up to 20. I only removed 6 of 10, feeling it would be prudent to leave the ones that have resulted in new accounts. They were removed without so much as a confirmation or question from Equifax. Also, ALL negative accounts were in dispute status simultaneously, so there doesn't appear to be any danger of it coming back "frivolous".I would remove the newest ones first since they would be on the report the longest. myscoresawful
Does EQ ever flat out reject your dispute of an inquiry?I've used EQ online to remove about 15 inquires, never once have their even questioned why, just sent me a letter saying it had been deleted.I now have about 8 more to go, but all of them are due to drop off anyway over the next two to three months, so I'm not going to bother with them unless I need another free copy of my credit report, then I will dispute them in order to get that. 2ndTimeAround
Yes this method does work - two weeks ago I had a borrower with credit score of 579. Had 79 inquirys over the last year showing on CR.Using the information here on the web site, disbuted his inquiries. Within three days - his score jumped to 601........... shevar
I Had 10 Inquiries On Eq. I Disputed 7 Of The 10 Because 2 Are Due To Drop Next Month. All Of The 7 Were Deleted Using The Online Method.
someonesomewhere
Does EQ ever flat out reject your dispute of an inquiry?Yes, if there's a TL connected to the inquiry, then they likely won't delete it. For example, if you have a loan with Ford, and an inquiry from Ford about the time the loan originated, they likely ain't gonna delete that inquiry. someonesomewhere
burdettefamily4,What exactly do you mean by, "now there are alerts on my reports the the card was lost or stolen"?
CantCU
I had 8 with EQ, disputed 6. I now have 2. Both are scheduled to come off this year, one in July and the other in October. I guess I'll just leave them.Wish EX and TU would let you dispute online. I can't get TU to delete anything although I did get EX to delete ONE...when I had to argue with the guy for 15 minutes that it was a duplicate. momof5
Its not negative to have a card reported lost or stolen. They did this because of the acct number had to be changed when they issued the replacement card.I have a few such notations on my CR (my wallet's contents were stolen).
