RumorsNGossip
HEY GUYS! I'm a definite newbie here, and am very excited about this process. A year ago I had 5 student loans in default and FAKO scores of 500 +/- a point or two. WELL, I recently got all of my student loans out of default (except the crappy private ones who will report as default till PIF) and am slowly picking away at the rest. I sent my first round of DV letters last week, due to your sage advice. I need some guidance from you pro's!HOW AM I FOLLOWING YOUR ADVICE?Well, I pulled a tri-merge from TrueCredit and PrivacyGuard and also have myFICO Scorewatch to help track progress. I have also pulled master reports from EX and TU, and am waiting for the hard copy from EX (CSC in my state)MY TRI-MERGE reports look like New Orleans after Katrina.......Here are some questions for y'all:1.I have several COLLECTION accounts showing as "open" with one bureau, and "closed" with another. Am I correct in assuming that a collection account should not be showing as OPEN?2. Most of the errors I have showing up are with Equifax, yet I'm in a state handled by CSC Credit. There website is absolutely HORRIBLE and I can't get it to work to dispute anything... Any advice?3.ODDITY. On my TC TRIMERGE, I have an old installment TL showing up as charged-off with a $0 balance on EQ and TU, yet EX shows it with a $6000 balance. BUT, on my EX bureau report, there is NOTHING about it at all. Why would TC be pulling it from EX, but EX have no record? Everyday when I refresh my TC report, it's still there!4.I just got a car loan from Americredit (for 72 months and 18% interest... I KNOW, I KNOW...shoot me now. thank god for refi's).. ANYWAY, the inquiries from 15 different auto financing companies are showing up as individual inqs and it TANKED my fakos from 620 to 550 in a few days. Can I call the CRA's and ask them to consolidate these inquiries?? I thought they were supposed to do that anyway??5.Lastly for now, I send a DV to a CA for an old utility bill in my roommates any my name. I got the green card on monday. YESTERDAY, I received a one page "Informational Data Sheet" from them, a simple statement print-off from their computer... All of the fields were empty except my name, my NEW address they took from the DV letter, the account number, OC, balance, and a box was checked at the top that said "This form is for reporting/updating account information for: DELETION" No signature, no explanation, NOTHING. Is this there way of informing me that they're deleting the TL? If not, this is obviously not sufficient DV!?THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping out a newbie... I'm a quick learner and have been reading voraciously! I look forward to becoming a pro with you guys, and joining the fight in the war against THE ARMY OF CREDIT DARKNESS!!Thanks!Justin

Am I correct in assuming that a collection account should not be showing as OPEN?Correct, they should be closed. I'll bet they are showing as installment accounts too.2. Most of the errors I have showing up are with Equifax, yet I'm in a state handled by CSC Credit. There website is absolutely HORRIBLE and I can't get it to work to dispute anything... Any advice?Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. you have to create a new user name and password EACH time you go to their site to disupte. Once created I have found you have to wait for the e-mail from them saying your account is created to log in. Do EVERYTHING you want to do while logged in because next time it won't work and you have to setup a new account. Or just mail them your dispute. By far easier.3.ODDITY. BUT, on my EX bureau report, there is NOTHING about it at all. Why would TC be pulling it from EX, but EX have no record? Everyday when I refresh my TC report, it's still there!huh? What is EX reporting???4.I just got a car loan from Americredit (for 72 months and 18% interest... I KNOW, I KNOW...shoot me now. thank god for refi's).. Can I call the CRA's and ask them to consolidate these inquiries?? I thought they were supposed to do that anyway??You are doing better than me. my van is at 22% The CRA's show a group of inquiries for the same thing (auto loan) but only count it as one as long as they are with-in 7 days of each other. When I bought my van I had a grand total of 52 inquiries from 3 dealerships. My score dropped 8 points total for all.5.Lastly for now, I send a DV to a CA for an old utility bill in my roommates any my name. I got the green card on monday. Also point out that their print out says that the form says the information is for deletion and you'd like them to follow through with it THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping out a newbie... I'm a quick learner and have been reading voraciously! I look forward to becoming a pro with you guys, and joining the fight in the war against THE ARMY OF CREDIT DARKNESS!!hey no problem, since your local (your in the metro area right?) you can just drop off large sums of money for my advice, even if I am wrong. gypsie
why the bump? You've got alot going on there in just one post. Credit repair takes time and it's best done in steps, or you're going to overwhelm yourself. I'm overwhelmed just by reading your post. Most of your questions can be answered by searching.Follow the primer, read the stickies, and the DV flowchart. Get hardcopies of all of your CRs- so that you have a complete report to look at.#1- start by disputing all the CA TLs with all 3 CRAs- (follow the primer)#2- if you can't dispute via online- then do it in writing.#3- TC is not a complete report of each- get hard copies from the actual bureaus and dispute accordingly#4- Do a search for removing inquiries- there's ALOT of threads on the subject#5- the credit repair primer and the DV flowchart should answer your questions about DVing:http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263069http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation_workflow.shtmlit's easier to pick one of the battles and ask questions as you go...with that said- WELCOME to the fight!!
