onthedot
My last auto loan (paid off last year) shows a perfect history until the last two payments. Oddly, the second to last says 30 days late and the next month says 120 days late. I'm not sure how the number could jump an extra 90 days on the last one. I think it's worth disputing somehow. The lates only happened because I was trying to get them to give me the final payoff on the car and they kept screwing around causing me to be late in their files. I want to dispute based on the fact I was never late, but I'm afraid the CRA may dump the TL altogether, which would be a bad thing. BTW, about half way through my loan, it was sold off to Capital 1 and we know what kind of bas turds they are. Last time I looked into a new car, the one thing the creditors liked was my history of paying car payments on time. What would you do?
gypsie
I was for suggesting GW until you mentioned Crap one. It still may work..if you could speak with a supervisor...but don't get your hopes upMaybe in this case you should re-dispute with the CRAs- as never late- pointing out the ridiculousness of the 30 to 120 day late jump. Most here don't recommend disputing via the phone- but you may get lucky- by getting someone who sees the illogical lates and deletes them especially if you point out your perfect payment history in your "sweetest voice".If you can't get them to remove- you may just need to let it be- since you don't want to loose the TL. Right now, the lates are hurting you, but it won't be too long until the TL "out weights" the lates in the scoring
AlmostFixed
Goodwill worked for me with Cap One Auto. Had a legitimate reason, sent a letter to the big cheese, got a call 4 days later. Worth a try.
on-rt-track
Hi On the dot,I had the exact same situation happen with Cap One Auto as you did.Cap One purchased my loan the last month of the contract and then sent me a bill for $1200 although my payments had never been late. They hounded me with calls telling me these were outstanding payments. I told them countless times I had never missed a payment and to send me a copy of my payment history to verify what had been missed... Which they never did!It ended up being interest which had accrued daily since I usually paid on the "10th day" before any late fees hit. (I found this out thru Onyx NOT CAP ONE!!!) Clearly I was not aware this interest was being accrued. I tried to fight it and dispute it, nothing came of it. I paid it off when they threatened to repo my car which had never had a late payment. It's been almost 2yrs and I believe this is really affecting my score. I would be so appreciative if you would tell me what success you had with the goodwill letters. Thanks:)++
