CantCU
Kohl's...I was in one of their stores, and was offered 15% off my initial purchase if I applied for one of their store cards. Ok, fine...I felt as though I would be approved as I haven't applied for new credit in a long time. Well, I forgot I had a FA on my CR's, so it went "pending". No call from them to verify identity, so I was pro-active and called them.Lady I spoke with 3 days after the initial application found my record, got some info from me, told me I was approved for $1000 limit. Next thing I see is another hard pull on my credit report. I went ballistic. They pulled EX which only had 3 pulls on it (I've been working very hard on those) and now I have 5...2 of which in 3 days. I called back, screaming at the first person who answered the phone who got a supervisor. I explained the situation, and she said she would "see what she could do" and would call me back yesterday. No return call. This morning, I get up, find their website, and email consumer affairs. Told them all about the situation. Not sure if it will do any good. All I wanted was the 15% discount, then I wouldn't use the card again! So beware of Kohl's. They aren't very nice and they really screwed me up. Hopefully, they will remove the second pull...but with it being EX I can't dispute it online.

CantCU
So dispute it by phone. Every chance they'll look at it, recognize a goof-up and remove it.Well, I spoke with a nice lady named Rebecca just a few minutes ago (the other supervisor never returned my call) at Kohl's and she reviewed the situation, my explaination, and they agreed it was an error on their part...apologized, and agreed to remove one of the hard pulls. Now that I am calmer, I talked nice to her and got it fixed.I still don't think I'll ever use their card, though. Recovering Attorney
Silly to go through all that for a one time 15% discount, imo
defpro
Yes, we all catch the bug at first at going for the credit. Argue they should n't made their decision on the disputed items? Good luck though. I applied for an E*trade checking account after looking in the forums, YES they use ChexSystems. NO-they aren't mine, wrote on my name only andbeing disputed. redbank
I went to kohls back in October and they were going around offering the same thing. I told them no, they persisted. I told them my credit was bad. Still persisted. They said they hear that all the time and that some people are surprised when they are approved. I was with my mom and child and the place was packed, so I finally agreed to let her do it. and I was denied. Now luckily, that is one of 2 hard pulls in the past 2 years for me, so it wasn't that much of a hit. But it frustrates me that they are taught to hound you till you say yes, and enough hits can hurt you.But I have always like Kohl's otherwise and am very glad they worked with you are going to remove the second pull. CantCU
Silly to go through all that for a one time 15% discount, imoYes, Recovering Attorney, you're probably right. But you know what they say about hindsight being 20/20. Had it gone smoothly, I was purchasing over $200 in merchandise...so that would have been about $30 in about 5 minute's time...that would be, umm, about $360 an hour? But it didn't...so it was not worth it...never know until you try. But they do have monthly credit card promotions, so all is not lost.Yes, we all catch the bug at first at going for the credit. Yes we do, Defpro. And it's not as though I don't have enough credit cards...LOL! I have 12 open ones. But I have always like Kohl's otherwise and am very glad they worked with you are going to remove the second pull. Thanks, RedBank...I like Kohl's too. And I normally just use my debit card, and figured "why not". Live and learn. They are removing the 2nd pull, thank goodness.
redbank
But they do have monthly credit card promotions, so all is not lost.True, True, that 15% isn't a one time thing. My mom has a card and around once a month they have a day with similar savings. BUT with more potential. They send my mom a mailer with a pull off sticker. It looks just like the mailer everyone else gets in the mail, but it is addressed to her and it has a pull off sticker. That sticker automatically has 15% off one day's purchase, with the potential for 20% or 30%. AND if you are a card holder and do not have your mailer with your sticker with you that day, they pull out a handful of scratch offs, and you get to choose one. Same deal, minimum of 15% off, maximum 30%.During x-mas, my mom got a Cuisinart food processor. Kohls was having one of those killer sales with 50% off.... then her 15% cardholder discount... not to mention she had $30 Kohls cash from a previous sale.... SWEETOk, enough about how much I love kohls and back to credit repair. They only pulled with Experian on me, so when I get things cleaned up a bit, I am gonna see about asking Experian to send them updated info and see if I can get a card that way, maybe it won't be a hard pull then. (2 hard pulls)I have been wanting a Magic Bullet forever...they had them on sale for under $40, and with the 15% discount, was a sweet deal.I have to admit the cashier gave me the 15% even though I didn't get instant approval at the register! Now back to credit repair.
