eastoutwest
All:I have run into a bit of a brain twister. As most of us do, I subscribe to TrueCredit and track my reports and FAKO scores, etc. I ran reports today and discovered something disturbing. According to True Credit, there is a 2004 CO listed for Bank of America. This is curious. I did have a charge off with B of A which was paid in settlement in 1998. Since I know that the CO information is past reporting statute, I trotted over to my Experian report to dispute the 2004 CO notation. My to my shock, my Experian credit report does not contain this negative information about a 2004 CO which True Credit says my Experian report contains. Thus, there is nothing to dispute!!!! Is this a common glitch in the system? Anyone have any advice on how to get True Credit / FAKO to stop showing the 2004 CO even when my Experian report doesn't list it at all??Thanks, I'm puzzled--
willingtocope
Absolutely standard operating procedure for FAKO. Couple things to remember...1. Truecredit is always out of date...maybe 60-90 days depending on the cycle.b. Nobody who's going to lend you money looks at Truecredit. They always go right to the CRAs. MountainDude
That's why I'm not completely sold on the monthly monitoring programs. I almost signed up for TC, but I wanted to think about it a bit more. I'm starting to think that it's better to just dispute something every 90 to 100 days on all three CR's, and pull FICO's every 120 days. I think it would probably save you money in the long run, and you wouldn't be dealing with FAKO's.j
eastoutwest
I've been a member of True Credit for two full years, $14.95 a month and, honestly, I'm not seeing that it's done that much for me. I get MUCH more information by disputing something every 90 days and waiting for the report. However, I do like the monitoring service so I know when these nasty rat CA's do a hard inquiry without my permission.
hiblues
Every service has it's flaws ... that's what I notice.. I'm signed up for all 3 CRA's on line services....My thinking is that it can't hurt to be a member of their on-line services when you dispute. The furnishers get preferential treatment because they are paying members... I mean, for example, all the CRAs are legally required to share info with eachother, so technically they could add that negative info if they wanted to... but how many times does a CA's TL only show up on 1 CR? lots, and it's because ( i think) that they favor paying furnishers.SO, when you become a paying member of there service there is a possibilty that they would give you preferential treatment as well.Of course they would NEVER admit to it but it can't hurt.on the other hand... it could just give me the placebo effect that I need to make me feel better - hehe... I've only had TC for a few days but why spend $150 a year for that info? You can get your EQ FICO for $6 Score Power or whatever they call it and get another free score. Do the TU and EX at FICO three times a year for $75 and you're out the door under $100 a year.
CantCU
I'm not having this problem with TrueCredit. I recently disputed Inquiries with EQ and they fell off my TC report within days...(can't say how long because I had a computer crash in the middle of all this).I just pulled my EX this morning to dispute something (using TC) and everything matched up. MountainDude
Yeah, I can see how it would be helpful when disputing saying you are a paying member of one of their services. And it wouldn't surprise me is that carries some weight with them when they are reviewing your dispute.I don't have "inquiries" right now, I'm in total "lock-down" mode untill I get enough money to cover closing costs on a house.j
