1flyfisher
I just got off the phone with American Agencies to get the correct address and the correct account # and they said they will respond to a request for validation in 30-60 days. I said they had to respond in 30 once it is writing to them and the woman said because it was an old account that they did not have to respond within 30 days.Is this true? Also, should I send a DV registered mail or certified or just regular mail. stancil1
Always Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. They don't have to respond to you at all. But until they respond, they can't verify with the CRAs without violating.I wouldn't call them on the phone anymore and would certainly not tell them that they HAD to validate within X amount of time. They will attempt to trip you up and get you to reaffirm the debt which, depending on your location could reset the SOL.Just DV them and if you don't hear back from them within 45 days, DV them again... Always check you credit daily and make notes of everything that is wrong or in violation (ie if they don't report the TL as being disputed by the consumer or if they leave it in perpetual dispute etc.). Once you've done this and have plenty of violations, then send them an ITS.

Do you mean the time that they receive my DV letter till the time they resopond they can't legally report to a CRA?I wouldn't call them on the phone anymore and would certainly not tell them that they HAD to validate within X amount of time. stancil1
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. they don't care though because most people don't stick with it. So just stick with it and catch them in as many violations as you can.I use True Credit. In order to beat the 14.95 per month charge, just do a search here for Walmart. You'll get it for 11.95 through Walmart Financial Services. Also, do a search on bumpageHope this helpsD
