oncogene1
Hello,I am new to the forum but, have been lurking over the last couple of days and I find you all very helpful.I have a Wells Fargo account on my report that has been charged off and is set to drop from my report 12/08. I recently called because I am not sure about the details of the account and they claim to have no record of me in their system. The customer service rep said that they would not have any records because the account has been sold. Does this mean I can dispute and have it removed because they don't have any of the records? What if a collection agency has the records? I read the sticky but am a little confused. Any help or advice? Thanks.Oncogene

timbercreektech
Dispute it with the CRA's. If Wells can't find record of it, it should be deleted.
malcolmkms
Like Timbercreektech said dispute with the CRA's first, it's a possibility it will fall off. Is the CA reporting to the CRA's? If they are reporting dispute that account as well with the CRA's then DV them. If the OC verifies with the CRA's ask the CRA's for MOV.
thomassl
What does the recent copy of your credit report say? If the account was sold, it should say on your credit report who now owns the account. You can dispute it with the CRA's but remember that in doing so, you could "awaken the monster...CA's" who will start coming after you regarding the debt. :'> If they are not bothering you, it's best to leave it alone...especially if you debt is still within the SOL! We need to know what your credit report says and when you made a last payment on the account so we can guide you properly.
