Removing Very Old Marks On My Credit History And Other Stuff

Hi there,

I have an old Capital One account that was settled for less than the full balance (settlement was $204, I was a dumb college kid, I know). On my credit report, the only date listed for this account is "Date Open: 08/1999". I believe the settlement took place early 2000, but I have no documentation. In any event, I feel like this should have been removed by now, but it is still there. How do I go about removing this mark, and what language should I use?

Also, (again from my dumb college days), I have a traffic ticket that I was very late on before I paid it in full. The note on my credit report is "Paid, was a collection account, insurance claim or government claim or was terminated for default" from 08/2003. This is marked as "key derogatory" on my credit report. Is there any chance at getting this removed?

Thanks everyone,

Richard

As far as the 1999 one, try calling the CRA's to get it removed. if you lose patience while on hold an on-line dipute should take care of it.

The other one... hhmmmmm. have you at least tried to dispute it?

Dispute it and come back with the results...
