Question about disputing a chargeoff that has inaccurate info

Hello, I have a chargeoff on my reports that was transferred/sold, but the high balance listed is incorrect (different on each report). If I dispute this and ask for deletion, do they still have the option of just updating it to the correct high balance? Also do I need to provide proof? I was planning to say" I've never had an account with ABC creditor with a high balance of $$$" so I'd rather not give them any info which admits the account is mine.

(I searched, but couldn't find what I was looking for, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!)

If you dispute it as " No knowledge of account" they don't hold it against you or anything if it comes back as verified.... if that's what you are wondering.

Questions....

How old is it?

How much is it for?

Has it gone to collections?; if so are both the OC and the CA reporting it?

Have you read the primer? http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263069
