CA verified dispute after payoff, do I sue?

Recommended Posts

I recenly paid a collection account in settlement with Cavalry Portfolio -- I know, never pay, but my mortgage bank wanted it paid.

I made a settlement in full with them, and even received paperwork to the effect that it was settled in full.

They said it would take 60-90 days to update my credit report. I said, "Fine, I'll dispute the item and it'll get done in 30 days."

I disputed with Experian, and to my shock (well, not really, CAs are complete slime) they verified the account as still being in collections, not settled, and with a balance due.

The question: Do I now sue them and where do I start?

Thanks,

Suing is still a bit pre-mature. You need to get violation after violation racked up on them. You next route now is to send a copy of the agreement and payment to the CRA's. If you were expecting only a "paid in full" you should have sent this initially.
