simplysilky
Just a few questions...hopefully someone can take pity on me and answer them!1. I have a charged off/closed cc account, balance of $236 (Orchard) and wanted to know do you think if I paid it off would my score go up? At least a tad??2. Each CRA is reporting different "high balances"...should I worry or DV?3. How can I get those dang old public records deleted?BIG QUESTION: I dv'd an CA for a charged off auto loan, they responded to the CRA with "Paid Chargeoff", I haven't recvd anything from them. Can they do that? What would happen if I tried to get it deleted? I don't want my scores to tank any more.....I really need to get these collections off my report so I can get a loan for my business. Recovering Attorney
Public records? Like a judgment or a lien? Banks won't lend to you if you have those, and you would have to disclose them whether or not they show up on a credit report.
kevin3344
1. Paying a charge off will do little for your score since it will just turn it from "paid" to "unpaid"...still a black mark. You might try a DV or PFD here. The key is to have it gone, not just paid.2. I would DV any CA, not just those reporting incorrect balances.3. Public records are hard to remove. You can dispute but depending on the record I might pay it. You can pay the court directly.I really need to get these collections off my report so I can get a loan for my business.Banks are leery about loaning money for new businesses because a large portion of them fail. If I didn't have the funds personally I wouldn't start one on borrowed funds. However, if you want to that's your choice...it's going to take good credit to do so, however. Start by opening a secured credit card and using it wisely. And don't be late or miss a payment on ANYTHING for a few years and they might loan $$ to you. merkurfan
You can dispute it and hope they are to busy at the court house to verify it. But likely it will stay to 2010. You can also search vacate judgement on this site and go that route. See if you can get a judge to vacate (make it go away as if it never happened) since it was paid. It's kind of like a goodwill for the court systems.
kevin3344
I agree. You may have to wait this one out. Try disputing first and see if that works.
Kat99
Im gonna chime in too. I also have a judgement from about 20 yrs ago that I never knew anything about until I started on the credit repair journey. Since I never knew about this of course it was never paid ($111). I immediately disputed with the CRAs and next thing you know, it went from showing as unpaid and 13 yrs old to "released and paid" as of 2004. I have since been denied credit and the reason being is an unsatisfactory judgement. Now, because I disputed it and they updated the info eventhough it was wrong (I did not pay anything), I have now reset the credit reporting time. I am scared to touch it in the event they realize it is not paid and released as of 2004 which would then start the reporting clock all over again. I am not trying to hi-jack your thread, just am sharing a similar experience. It appears that judgements are very hard to deal with and you have to be very careful when disputing, etc. as to not reset the reporting timeframe. I am hoping that since they have it as paid and released as of 2004 that pretty soon it will lessen the negative effect it has on on me. Best of luck and please share any updates with us. CleverCynic
Kat99 you have not reset the time on the disputed accounts. The "last reported" will change often and does not affect when it's due to fall off.
