bswine1
I got a call the other day from a collection agency demanding payment for a Visa. They told me that they sent a letter in the mail, but when I told them that I did not get it they refused to send me another letter. After I refused to negotiate and accept a faxed settlement they resent the letter to me. I got it today and pulled my credit report and this collection is not on my report. There is nothing even close to it on the report. What should I do? Are they trying to scam me?
elyse449
My personal thought is to immediately request validation to be sure this is even YOUR debt, or that they have the right amounts and that the SOL hasn't expired.Don't speak to them by phone anymore if you can help it. If you do, keep your cool and just reiterate that you've sent your request for validation and will await their response. Not sure if they're trying to scam ya or not. Just request the validation, see what they provide and go from there. JMHO.Elyse

kram63
I have also received a letter from CA attempting to collect a debt not on my CR. I believe the debt is a CC debt probably with a DOLA of 94' or 95'. Should I ignore this, or DV?
momof5
Kram,Next time, start your own thread. The debts you are talking about are out of statute and you should sent C&D or FOAD letter to the CAs.
