Kennedy
What are the steps, that one should take, when loosing your SSN card? My niece, who is 16 lost hers. Her mom took her to the S.S admin. and they just replaced it with the same number.Should she call the 3 bureaus? file a police report, just to have some type of paper trail? Please advise
zfire
It's best to file a police report. My daughter just went through this. One CRA won't do a fraud alert without one.We did a 90 day alert and instead of getting all 3frozen, we ended up with a letter from one .So they got a copy of the report .I believe you can extend them later. Kennedy
Did you actually call the Bureaus? Or did you send them letter of explanation? I know that it can be quite difficult to even get through to the agencies. I read one thread here, that said to contact the FTC, wondering what they can do. zfire
Did it online. Honestly, when you report they automatically contact the other2 agencies, but one...can't remember which one it was.......wouldn't go for itwithout a police report.
