Debt validation???

I got this from Lexington Law website. I thought you could only debt validate a collection company and not the creditor? From what they are saying you can DV both?

For certain charged-off and collections accounts, this intervention affirms your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by demanding either a complete accounting of the alleged obligation's statutory compliance, or the removal of the reporting of these accounts.

15 U.S.C. 1681m[g] Their duty under FACTA once imposed upon furnishers/ debt collectors to supply the consumer-victim with a copy of the account information, including the application, account records, charge receipts, etc.

Interesting, I'm not sure I've ever used or even read that article.
