stephv710
Sorry if this is redundant, but I've searched the board several different ways and can't find the answer.I have a CO from 2001 and on on EX and EQ it is reporting like this:Unpaid balance reported as a loss by credit grantor $5,275 Seven year payment history [?]30 days late 3 times 60 days late 2 times 90+ days late 25 times (May 2007, Apr 2007, Mar 2007, Feb 2007, Jan 2007, Dec 2006, Nov 2006, Oct 2006, Sep 2006, Aug 2006, Jul 2006, Jun 2006, May 2006, Apr 2006, Mar 2006, Feb 2006, Dec 2005, Nov 2005, Oct 2005, Sep 2005, Aug 2005, Jul 2005, Jun 2005, May 2005, Jan 2005) TU seems to be reporting this correctly. What can I do to have this updated? Can I just send them a letter and state that they are not reporting this correctly? Not sure what approach to take, but it's killing my score to have all these current lates.PS......its Cap One Thanks!

I had 41 of them, fortunately they are gone now.

ps7psp9
What if the account is charged off/closed? Would that make it a violation to keep reporting lates and past due?
willingtocope
The magic words are "Sold to another lender" with a balance of $0. Up until that point, CO doesn't mean squat. Its an accounting term that means "charge against income for P&L purposes." They still own it. You still owe it. They can still charge interest and penalty and report you late for not paying. They can still try to collect. And, "closed" only means that you can't charge on it anymore...
chilton1
I had a similar thing with Providian on my Eq report. I called equifax and I got lucky. I was able to convince a lady at Equifax that is the account was sold to someone else they cant report it late every month. After all they got paid by someone. The 20+ 90 days late were removed. My score shot up 23 points. Give it a shot. It is not 100% the same argument did not work for my friend.
