Intothelight
I'm brand new at this -- this is my very first post. So please excuse me if this question has been asked and answered already.Recently to complete my mortgage refi, I paid all my old debt - which included quite a few collections. The largest was held by Pinnacle (the OC was Chase). Because this all had to be done quickly, I contacted them by phone (I know this is bad practice, but it couldn't be avoided:roll: ). Pinnacle referred me to a law office Nelson & Watson who I was told was handling my account. I negotiated a settlement in writing with Nelson (they wanted more for a PFD, but I didn't have any more to offer ). And also followed up to make sure I also received a letter in writing stating that the account status was now Paid in Full. So, here's the problem.. It's been 2.5 months since I made the settlment payment, but Pinnacle continues to report a balance due on the account (the total minus the settlement payment). What should I do? I've already contacted Nelson & Watson, who assure me their records indicate the account is paid in full. So what now?
SecretAgentWoman
Did you dispute with the CRAs?
Intothelight
Did you dispute with the CRAs?I'm in the process of disputing with TransUnion, but I don't know if I'm using the proper dispute "reason". I didn't ask for DV, but that the account status be verified - paid in full and closed.Should I ask for DV? I still have to dispute with EQ and EX. thomassl
I would dispute with the all the CRA's with the reason being that the account is paid and closed but is showing otherwise on your credit report.
